Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-15 bis
No props. No Roundels. Only jets and stars for this outing, chaps.
The Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-15 bis.
Is this a "bis"? Is it not? I have to admit that I don't really care, but I like the way it sounds.
So much so that a word comes to mind. That word is stronk. This is stronk design with stronk cannons and stronk engine. Will shoot down many capitalists. Fueled with vodka.
This model was conceived when I started looking around at what others were building in this community, rather than just focusing on my own builds.
I have to say that there is one builder who has really impressed me - that is the gent called Weaverfish. His builds are very, very accurate, have reasonable part counts and have a "semi" cockpit that really adds to the immersion. Especially the "head shake" which he adds. Suffice to say that I am a fan. If you haven't already - go check him out.
I admit - I have shamefully cribbed a slew of his building techniques and applied them to this build.
She is around 260 parts and has custom landing gear and a semi cockpit. There is a large degree of missing details and inaccuracy here - this is my first attempt at building a usable interior. The next one will be better.
She is more or less the right size, but she turned out a bit heavier than her real life counterpart. She needed two engines to get the performance in the same ball park as the real deal. I'm not sure of the lack of performance is due to her weight, her drag or the sum of both? But she flies nicely either way.
Controls;
AG1 - Landing Lights
AG2 - Drop under wing stores
AG3 - Running Lights
GEAR - operate landing gear
BREAK - Operate air brakes.
VTOL down - Flaps (1/2 flap, trim slightly nose up for take off, full flap and trim nose 3/4 down for landing)
Have fun, komrade.
