Taking many liberties from the in-development I-16, the Mak 3 used the new 8 cylinder VkkssM 2. While light, the engine was underpowered, heavily hampering the Mak 3 in terms of speed. Despite this, the Mak 3 had incredibly good manoeuvrability and a low stall speeds.

The prototype was rejected for the reasons of:
1. Low speed
2. (While rare) Deadly spins
3. Outdated by time of review
4. Too expensive to mass produce

The lead designer, Lenrov Makren was later arrested and found guilty of attempting to sell parts and documents to non allied countries. Take of that what you will
