After the great War, the Soviet Air Force have been experimenting with foldable aircraft, as for most of the time, seaborne planes were assembled on the spot in Capital ships and launch them then. Despite going against Soviet philosophy, the “SAF” designed an. experimental aircraft that can fold and unfold its wings. Its main feature is the locking mechanism where it slams the wings together. The experiment’s result was mixed, the proof of concept worked but the engine is unrelentingly underpowered, the plane never took off but its legacy will continue in 1939 as a floatplane variant.
