F-5E Tiger II
This is my enhanced version of my old F-5 Tiger. I overhauled the model and it handles much better than before. I scrapped the old landing gears and made new custom gears. The shape has been slightly redesigned to match the real aircraft and it has been fitted with two custom AGM-65 Maverick missiles Link Below. The rest of the armament include twin 20mm M39A2 cannons, two AIM-9 sidewinders, and two AIM-120 missiles. The scale is slightly off but the weight is quite accurate. The aircraft has a functional tailhook, droppable fuel tank, lights, and extendable landing lights activated by the landing gear. Enjoy!
Controls

AG2: Extend/Retract Tailhook
AG3: Release Fuel Tank
AG6: Open Drogue Parachute
AG7: Anti-Collision Lights
AG8: Lock/Unlock Nose Gear Turning

There's plenty of room in the canopy window. Maybe I'll make an updated version with a cockpit.

@IanTheCuberGamer Thanks for the info.
@greasytortle Someone made an edited version of Your F-5E and called it their own :https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/6n9Egz/Northrop-F-5F-Tiger-2
@greasytortle yeah AC5 and AC Zero is my favorite Ace Combat series
@SkylineAero oh is that an Ace Combat reference? I only played AC5 That's how I first heard of the F-5.
@ItsErisGaming blaze engaging
Captain Bartlett's Nuggets
@greasytortle you still kept the acceleration from being ludicrous, so...nice! I have to multiply engine power on my builds, usually at least 2x power, but still low-level speed tends to be low, while airspeed at higher altitudes tend to be high. Oh well, that’s the price of replica builds.
@ChiChiWerx yeah I think the top speed is about 1050mph in the real F-5. Since it's simpleplanes I cranked the engines up a little to go about 1600mph at around 25,000ft.
Classic jet, interesting build. I have 500 or so hours in the T-38, so I particularly like the F-5...much more thrusties made the airframe that much better!
@Leehopard Thanks! I try to keep my builds at a reasonable part count. When I started the build, I had no intentions of making it to scale and I'm regreting that now, though it is pretty proportional to the in game missiles if the Guardian is an AIM-9 and the Interceptor is an AIM-120. That tends to be the basis of scale for all my aircraft.
Simple but nice proportion, like it
im not sure, the 35 is a difficult plane to build, the body lines are very unique. if i could make a suggestion maybe open the challenge up to “ make your own vtol plane or the 35 is way over budget “ build a economical replacement “ something like that. its just my opinion but it seems that open challenges tend to garner more attention and the ones that are closed in on a particular plane dont get as much. ill be in if u change it to a vtol plane, but the 35 is a tough one@greasytortle
@Texasfam04 Thanks. Right now there's only one entry to the challenge. You've made some pretty nice things. are you going to have a try at it?
beautiful job! im still in awe of how you accomplished the f35 rear engine, quite ingenious! ive never tried to build a 35 because the engine is so difficult to replicate but you nailed it!
@MI I'll see what I can do but it'll have to wait as Im not home right now. From the looks of it we could probably turn the nose into the variant with the reconnaissance camera.
@greasytortle hey we met yesterday. So you uploaded it? Really good
Solid
Thanks for tagging me. Well done on this build! The F-5 is definitely one of my favorite fighters. Pretty much the definition of a "light fighter". Pretty sure I mentioned before on MP but the YF-17/F/A-18 are the decedents of the F-5 design. You just made the Hornet's grand dad.
Also the heightened cockpit and spine definitely look better than it was before.
