UAV-10 Raven 1.0

30.5k Ownedpilot  6 months ago

Heavily inspired by J35 Draken. UAV-10 Raven is an unmanned UAV developed by Saab to address the issue of costly pilot training. By incorporating AI and aggressive design, UAV-10 is cheap to operate and highly capable due to its stealth, supercruise capability, and high maneuverability. The only drawback of this platform is the small weapons bay. For this specific air-to-air loadout, it can only carry 3 AIM-120D. For ground attack, 2 GBU-31 can fit inside. Fortunately, it comes with a Mauser BK-27 cannon which makes it dangerous in dogfights. The cockpit is the housing for an advanced camera assembly that combines IRST and visual spectrum cameras. The engine is based on GE F414-400 with a 2D vector nozzle for better heat management and improved maneuverability during dogfights.

The missile comes from ReinMcDeer. The map used for the screenshot is Wright Island 2.

The design is completely original. If you have any suggestions for improvements, feel free to comment and discuss.

@Chazsaviation I seriously don't know because I sketched the plane before building it.

If it's a UAV why does it have a canopy?

Great idea to modify the Draken, I would say, the room for improvement is from the side view - I would consider to make tapered towards the end

@Rjenteissussy I think we all have a flying wing in the back of our head. After all, it is the simplest possible configuration.

The missile bay doors ONLY OPEN upon a positive missile lock ! How cool is that ? Click here to see the programming on the rotor that controls the bay door
