INTRO/HISTORY
The Ka-50 (Russian: Chornaya Akula, Black Shark; NATO designations: Hokum A) is a Russian-made attack helicopter, developed by the company Kamov. It was developed in the 1980s and introduced into active service in the Russian Armed Forces in 1995. Considered to be one of the most advanced helicopters of its kind, it is armed with a 30mm automatic cannon in the nose, in addition to air-to-ground missile launchers. , also being able to hit targets in the air. Each unit of this aircraft costs an average of US$16 million dollars. It has a cruising speed of 270 km/h and an operating range of 545 km.
