After the success of the R15 Slingshot, aircraft were getting more and more modern. SAC started developing a new delta winged fighter aicraft in the early 1990s. This aircraft had HUD, a more modern cockpit and performance to match the latest fighter aircraft. With the ability to pull 12g under supersonic speeds with full armament and over 14g unloaded, It succeded in combat tests against R15s. And so the SAC R20 "Scimitar" entered service in 2000.
