SAF-97 SOLDAT-A
Short Description:
The SOLDAT is a family of agile delta wing multi-role fighter in service during the late 90s till the present. Currently operated by the Royal Arendal Air Force (RAAF) and later by the Royal Arendal Navy (RAN)
History:
After the civil war during the Early 80s, the AMOD (Arendal Ministry Of Defense) requests for a fighter to replace its aging fleet of 3rd generation fighters but due to the lack of knowledge about aircraft designs, the final product's performance is deemed unsatisfactory yet it still got into mass production due to the desperate need of replacement. Fortunately, 1992 came around and Avalonia decides to do a military exercise with Arendal to release the tension and to cooperate with each other more than before. It is during this military exercise that the designers saw a peculiar aircraft. Unlike the aircrafts operated by the RAAF, the Avalonian fighter features a delta wing configuration. A configuration never known by the designers in Arendal. So they decide to learn from it and make their own version of it. It took two years to design and optimize the aircraft and later on, three prototype is built but due to Arendal lacking any of its own avionics at the time, those prototype is mostly fitted with foreign avionics. Something the AMOD is not fond of. It took another two years to research and built their own avionics based on the ones they have in store during that time and one more year to equip the prototype with their domestically produced avionics then getting it to multiple test flights. Overall, it is an agile fighter. The early prototype suffered from bleeding excessive amount of speed during hard turns but it is mostly taken care of now.
1997, the year of its mass production.
The AMOD named it "SAF-97 SOLDAT-A" and it entered service in 1998
The fighter is revealed in the 2000s and entered the global market in 2010
