CAC 15 "Kangaroo" MkII

18.9k Zippy6  6.8 years ago

After the preliminary designs in 1942, the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) began to finalize the design of the CA-15. Design was still centered around the Pratt & Whitney R2800 radial that also powered the famous P-47 Thunderbolt and F8F Bearcat. This engine was to be mounted at the front of a deep fuselage with a turbo-supercharger and intercooler mounted at the bottom of the fuelselage. As it was initially envisioned as a mid to low altitude fighter, provisions were made to carry unguided rockets, bombs, or disposable fuel tanks. Armaments were proposed for four 20mm cannon, however it was decided that 6x.50in machine guns would be used instead This model was never put into production and no protypes of this variant were built.

Up VTOL and AG 1 to retract gear, AG8 to turn off lights. There is a cockpit camera with a gunsight, my first ever gunsight!

Did I mention its at a 1:1 scale? ;)
