Imperatorskiy Class Battleship is a group of eight Pre-Dreadnought Battleships built for the Imperial Severnayan Navy in 2091. Their design was based on corresponding request of Admirality to increase the number of guns that can be used for engaging head on as well as armor that can neglect or absorb as many shells as it can.

History

The Tsar at the time wanted to make sure that Severnaya's Far East Ports are well protected and were able to protect it's vicnity without leaving the vicnity of it's port. He ordered the creation of the Eastern Fleet in 2089, which meant the new ships are needed to fill in the new fleet as both the Northern Fleet and the West Fleet were already full.

Among the ships created are the Imperatorskiy Class Battleships. During this time, Pre-Dreadnoughts still dominate the Northern Seas of Land of Dawn specifically the Northern Vale. as it's sole Empire, Severnaya made sure that it's Navy can contain it's fleet of Heavily Armoured ships as opposed of those of the Azuma Navy's bigger Dreadnoughts on the east and Kaisserreich's modern Battleships on the south. Dreadnoughts were already proposed towards the Tsar and were approved but because of lacking materials, they settled on smaller Pre-Dreadnoughts and used them until the newer Dreadnoughts entered service.

Service History

Upon commissioning of it's first member, Imperatorskiy, The ship was sent to fill in the Eastern Navy making her the first Battleship to enter the new Fleet. A year later, the second ship, Imperskaya Konstitutsiya joined her sister in the Eastern fleet making her the second Battleship to join the fleet. The third member, Strategicheskiy joined the Fleet making her the third member to join the fleet.

Severnaya-Azuma War
The outbreak of the war in 2095 meant that Severnaya's Eastern possessions were in threat. The Eastern Fleet commander, Endryu Dzhekson, was aware that the Eastern Fleet was not ready to face the large Dreadnoughts of Azuma Navy. The 4th Battleship to join the Eastern fleet was Imperator Zhyustin an Imperator class and the 4th member of the class, the Dreadnought however isn't ready as she wasn't properly shaken yet. This meant that the three Imperatorskiy Class were it's main core.

The Ships served mainly on defense as they were out-classed by the bigger Dreadnoughts of Azuma Northern Fleet. During the Early events of the war, only four battleships were present at the Seige of Port Klinton. Imperskaya Konstitutsiya was the only battleship lost during the seige. Two more member of the class was launched between March and November (Velikiye Ravniny March 12 2092 and Veter November 7 2092) both of which later joined the Eastern Fleet.

At the Battle of Dal'nevostochnoye more, The Eastern Fleet engage the Azuma Northern Fleet which were composed of all the current Imperatorskiy Class and two other Dreadnoughts. This Battle is an attenpt to break the blockade enforced by the Azuma in Port Klinton which affected the Eastern Operations of Severnaya Imperiya. During the Battle, Imperatorskiy was sunk under fire from Azuma Dreadnoughts with the loss of 200 men. Further to the Battle, Strategicheskiy was ordered to retreat due to heavy damage and was chased by Azuma Destroyers but were able to be fend of by Imperator Zhyustin and cruisers, Strategicheskiy was able to reach Port Klinton and repair her. The other members, Velikiye ravniny and Veter, continued to fight alongside the two other Dreadnoughts until the end of the battle which they sustained heavy damage. After the Battle (which is a Strategic victory for Severnaya Navy), The Eastern Fleet returned to Port Klinton for refirbishing and repairs. Later on, another member of the class, Gordyy svet launched in January 2096, joined the Eastern Fleet as part of it's reinforcement along with Imperatritsa Yekaterina, a Dreadnought.

The reinforced Eastern Fleet sailed out of Port Klinton for the Battle of Borodino Sea, a battle where the Azuma Navy made a last attempt to take over Eastern Vicinity of Severnaya Imperiya. At this time, Dzhekson had seven battleships, Strategicheskiy, Velikiye Ravniny, Veter, Gordyy Svet, Imperator Zhyustin and Imperatritsa Yekaterina, nine Light Cruisers, four Heavy cruisers and 38 Destroyers. Dzhekson used his opposite function of his originial tactics he used in previous battle, He ordered his battleships to stay on a diagonal line of battle sailing along with his faster vessels while his smaller and faster ships will charge towards the enemies lines. This tactic disputed the Azuma ships causing them spread out to avoid getting picked up by smaller vessels. During the Battle, Veter and Gordyy Svet, were under fire by Azuma Dreadnoughts. One of them manage to heavily damage Verter causing her to list heavily to her portside, Gordyy Svet was also under fire and same thing happened to her. Later on Veter begin to sink and her captain ordered an abandon ship, Gordyy Svet was able to lay smoke and turn around. Other ships such as Velikiy Ravniny and Imperator Zhyustin was heavily damage as well, but was able to lay smoke and turn around for retreat. Further into the battle, The smaller ships of Dzhekson manage to damage and sink several ships which further cause the Azuma Northern Fleet to get smaller thus it's commander ordered to retreat ending the battle to Severnayan Navy's victory. This is the last major naval engagement in the war.

After the war, The Imperatorskiy class was still used and another one was launched in Early March 2096 named Ustrashayushchiy. She joined the Western Fleet and fought against pirates in Severnaya voyna protiv piratov, She was the only ship of the class that did not join the Eastern Fleet. Finally the last member, Voskhititel'nyy was launched in mid June same year as her 7th sister. She joined the Eastern Fleet were she stayed till her retirement.

Features

The ship is actually inspired by the Borodino Class a Russian Pre-Dreadnought Battleship which served the Imperial Russian Navy. It was created entirely from scratch to make a new design.

It has four 12 inch guns located both Fore and Aft, 12x 6 inch guns located on both Port and Starboard and 14x 3 inch guns located blow the 6 inch guns which are all located both Port and Starboard. The ship had top speed of 18 knots.
