The Boeing 777 also called Boeing Triple Seven, is a widebody twin-engine turbofan aircraft developed and manufactured by North American Boeing. It is the largest twin-engine aircraft in the world, with capacity to accommodate 314 to 550 passengers, divided into 1 to 3 classes, with a range of 5,235 to 9,380 nautical miles (9,695 to 17,372 kilometers). Commonly referred to as the Triple Seven,[5][6] its features include the world's largest turbofan engine, six wheels on each main landing gear, fully circular fuselage cross-section, and a tail cone shaped blade. Developed in partnership with eight airlines, the 777 was designed to replace older widebody planes. The 777 was the first commercial aircraft produced by Boeing equipped with the fly-by-wire system, allowing computer-mediated controls.

The 777 entered service with United Airlines on June 7, 1995. As of August 2019, 60 airlines had ordered 2,049 aircraft, with 1,609 deliveries. The most common and successful variant is the 777-300ER with 844 orders and 810 delivered. In March 2018, the 777 became Boeing's most produced wide-body jet, surpassing the Boeing 747. Emirates operates the largest fleet of 777s, with 163 aircraft. The 777 was involved in 28 accidents and incidents, including seven total losses (five in flight and two incidents on the ground) resulting in 541 fatalities along with three hijackings of the aircraft.

Currently, the 777 is one of Boeing's best-selling models. Airlines purchased the aircraft as a fuel-efficient alternative to other widebody jets and it has been increasingly deployed on long-haul routes, particularly transoceanic ones. Competing aircraft are the Airbus A330, the Airbus A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11. In November 2013, Boeing announced the development of new variants, the 777-8X and 777-9X, collectively called the 777X, which introduced new such as composite wings, GEnx engines and other technologies also developed for the 787. The 777X series is scheduled to enter service by 2022.
