The Old Mighty Marc, SNS Fort Marcello CVA-501

History

SNS Fort Marcello was the first Aircraft Carrier in Federation of Silanesia Navy. Designed in 1974 and builded by Hargen Shipbuilding in 1976, Fort Marcello was one of the most expensive warship that Silanesia ever build. The ships name came from a fort on the Hill of Hergatz.

Fort Marcello was the sole ship in her class and commisioned in April 17, 1983. This ship was active in the navy from 1984 to the september 1993. this ship has crew of 1950 and carried 60 aircraft included 7 helicopters.

-Navy Tactical Fighter SQ 12 "Guillotine" (Now in Varasquiz Naval Air Base)
-Navy Tactical Fighter SQ 23 "Gehenna" (Now in Zalastria Naval Air Base)

Operational History

This ship was participated in Feresdria-Silanesia War or more known as Fero-Silanesia War, and has been involved in Operation Zulfiqar, Operation Neptune, Operation Dagger, Operation Trident, and Operation Polaris (Aborted, because the ship was sunk)

Fate

Fort Marcello was sunk while on the Halken Naval Base in September 15 1993. The cause of ship sink was because its propulsion was exploded, only 215 crew survived, while the other 1725 crew was killed, including the aces of Naval Air Force, Omar "Hinn" Syarifudin and Charles "Berry" Winters.

Quotes from a marine named Joseph "Walker" Baker aboard a helicopter that flying over SNS Fort Marcello. After he saying that word, he immediately taking a picture of the exploding ship.

-2 Month after Fort Marcello CVA-501 was sunk in September 15 1993, an LHD also named Fort Marcello was build by the same shipbuilding (The ship can be downloaded here)
