Ziegler Zi. 02 Wulf
Single-engined one-seat race plane or fighter when armed. Made by Ziegler Werke Troppau especially for speed race against Lightning. Speed, great maneuverability and good armament - those are the biggest advantages of this plane.
Fictional lore:
This plane was meant to be opponent for Bf-109. However Willy Messerschmitt had strong position as producer of fighters. Ziegler made some changes and gave Zi. 02 ability to transport bombs. Wulf was still fast enough to fight enemy fighters and proved itself to be one of the biggest successes of Ziegler Werke. Commanders of Luftwaffe didnt want to use fighters from former Czechoslovakia and czech factory. Around 40 Wolves were sent to allied Finland where they proved their qualities against soviet fighters. Production was stopped because of lack of engines and problematic shape of wings which was hard to produce in large numbers. In 1944, when Ziegler werke factory was able to produce enough parts and engines, was this plane too slow to fight against latest allied fighters. Luftwaffe however used some Wolves as a replacement of Ju-87 to attack bridges on the Western front.
