Spitfire Mk.1a (Spit chal)

Auto Credit Based on Boundslayer's Spitfire challenge (closed)

Ok chaps, here is a remastered version of my Spitfire Mk1a.

This one is late 1940 / early 1941, as she still has the Dark Green / Dark Earth upper surfaces, but has adopted the Sky Blue spinner and fuselage band dictating that sje is a day fighter. The yellow wing leading edges are omitted.

As a Mk.1 a she also has eight .303 brownings in an «a» type wing and the more rounded canopy.

Controls; flaps on AG1, trim to trim the pitch, all else is standard stuff. The tail wheel is castoring, with a maximum angle of 10 degrees each way, so use rudder on take off to keep her straight.

Pip pip!

Sorry I didn’t mark this sooner, but due to the lack of competition I can say you have won!

@GhostHTX that’s true, the MK1.a didn’t have those yellow markings

If I recall correctly the yellow leading edges were for recognition purposes. Im not convinced all fighter command units used them, though. I know the IJA / IJN used the same recognition trick too later in the war. @Tang0five

Looks superb! Ashamedly I never knew those painstakingly awkward decals you put on your childhood spitfire tail denoted daylight ops! I hate to pick your brain but what was the yellow leading edge stripe about on the wings?

Ive thought about it, believe me! Ive got one more Spitfire (F.22) in the works, one fictional Norwegian jet bomber and then we’ll see? @Spitfirelad05

This is a re touch of my existing spit 1. The initial build was a week or so. And you are very kind, thanks! @Frenchyfry
