A300-600 Air France (Flight 8969)
Airbus A300 is a medium and short range wide body passenger aircraft designed and produced by France's European Airbus Industries. Airbus A310 and Airbus A300-600 constitute a very famous wide body sister series of Airbus, providing a combination for operators in terms of commonality, economy and reliability.Airbus A300 A300 is the first twin engine wide body passenger aircraft in the world, and also the first passenger aircraft put into production by Airbus. The A300 became the first wide-body aircraft to be piloted by only two pilots and adopted a digital cockpit. This model was developed with the support of the governments of France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Spain. It began development in September 1969 and was put into production in 1972. The Airbus 300B1 prototype made its first flight in October 1972, was delivered for use in May 1974, and ceased production in July 2007. A total of 561 units were produced. The A300 aircraft adopts many technologies that its competitors do not have for mobile phones. These technologies have improved aircraft reliability, reduced operating costs, and paved the way for ETOPS. The production of A300 later prompted Boeing to develop Boeing 767. The fuselage of the A300 was later shortened (Airbus A310) or transformed into a special purpose aircraft (such as the A300-600ST "Beluga"). A total of 821 units in the entire series have been ordered or delivered. With the success of the A300, Airbus has developed A310, A320, A330, and A340 based on the A300.
