DF-2 Puttler
Essentially an engine with wings and a pilot, the Puttler is an experimental, high speed, very short range interceptor, intended to be the ultimate last resort air defense. The miniscule craft was intended to blast bombers out of the sky as they entered their bombing final, and hopefully take them down before they can get their bombs off. Due to the craft's miniscule scale, the sudden stop of the engine when running out of fuel (combined with CoM changes) could potentially throw the plane out of control, as could a stall. To remedy this, and make the craft's short landing gear landable, it was fitted with a parachute landing system. In order to land, or survive flatspins and the like, the pilot was intended to gradually slow the craft, eventually pressing a large red button (1) when it reaches around 250 mph. This activates 3 large parachutes, on which the plane can float (relatively) softly to the ground. Note: This plane's actually really stable, so that's all bullcrap.
