Svoboda Class Protected Cruiser
Svoboda Class is a group of Protected Cruisers built by the Shaterlot Navy between 1828 until 1912. They were the most massed produced Cruisers ever built by any navies in the world. They were the first Cruisers to be classified as either Protected Cruiser, Armoured Cruiser, or even probably the first class of Light Cruisers. They were the last Protected Cruisers built by the Shaterlot Navy.
History
12 years earlier, the Shaterlot Government requested an immediate reflourishing of it's Navy, 3 designs were passed which were the A-1, the B-1 and the B-1A. The government approved the B-1 design and was started immediately. The government however kept the B-1a design and was discussed furthermore. As the B-1 design is only good for protecting it's convoys, the design of the B-1a might break the balance of Defense and Offense for its roles. The ship was discussed for 4 years and was later approved. The first ship Svoboda was launched in 1829. When Svoboda entered service, many were confused if she was a originally a Protected Cruiser, an Armoured Cruiser or perhaps, according to Great Country Naval Historians, the first ever Light Cruiser. That is because the Ships were very different from what was intended to be originally planned, The Svoboda featured the characteristics of Protected Cruiser due to it's Armor and speed, she also featured the characteristics of an Armoured Cruiser because of her Armament and Armor and finally she featured the characteristics of a Light Cruiser because of her speed and armament. The Shaterlot Government didn't provide any answers and the Class was left to be part of the 3 types. Throughout their service, changes through Naval power made the government order more types of this ships making them the most massed produced Cruisers ever built. Over 100 were built.
Service History
The Ships served from 1821 to 1912, in those long service history the Class became the most veteran of all wars in Great Country. They served as screeners for Convoys and for protecting their much more Heavier Warships when fighting in high seas. They mostly saw service in the 2nd War of Coalitions and the Great War of Coalitions. Throughout their service, some ships received more modifications especially the ones that are still being built. Their long history saw the changes of Naval Warfare, they turned to became much more defensive roles especially when the Aircraft Carriers came into service in 1890. Because of the modifications, some ships formed the Russ Class, a modified version of Svoboda Class were they were fitted with numerous Anti-Air weapons against Enemy air raids. Throughout their service, only 12 ships were lost. The last ships were pulled out from service in 1911 ending their 83 years of service.
