Hello everyone, first build of 2025 here, a vehicle that i'm very attached to.
2 years ago, my passion for car design was ignited by two cars, the Fiat 500 and the Isetta. So i started consistently doodling fictional cars inspired by the previous two. This was one of them, though not exactly the same as 2 years ago.
So, me posting this always felt important, that's why i tried to go all out on giving this car good aestethics in every detail. (this thing has double the parts of most of my previous cars!)
Overall i just hope you'll enjoy it as much as i do, but first some more formal presentations..
It's a 3.6 meter long 5 door and 5 seater subcompact. Originally i thought of it more as a citycar but once i've built the B0X1 the design changed into a bigger and cuter all-rounder, all of this as inspiration from the Renault 5 e-tech started influencing the new proportions.
Also as i said, i wanted this car to be my most realistic looking vehicle so i've put buttons and controls for pretty much everything i could think of in the car, from the AC to the Steering wheel adjustments. In other words here are the controls:
-AG2= Start/stop
-AG3= Boost mode
-AG5= Wipers
-AG6= Hazards
-AG8= Parking+Ignition
-Pitch= Drive/Reverse
-Roll= Turn
-Yaw= Blinkers
-VTOL= A/C
Everything else can be controlled via buttons or levers, have fun ;)
Let's talk specs now, it's an EV sitting on a classic Macpherson suspension. There are 2 drive modes:
1) Comfort: The car emits virtually no noise and has reduced consumption allowing a range of up to 1000km for everyday driving. Though power is limited reducing the 0-100 to about 12sec and top speed to 130 kph
2) Boost: The car emits a small amount of noise, is capable of 0-100 in 5.83sec and goes up to 180kph. But consumption drops the range figures to about 600km
Dynamically, it's still rather heavy sitting at 1.3 tons but since this weight is low to the ground it makes a great combination with the "semi-comfy yet semi-sporty" suspension, especially around corners.
Yeah this price wouldn't be realistic in any way if converted to real currency but a man can dream am i right? :(
Thank you for reading up to this point, i will write some lore here but this is completely optional to read.
-lore:
The T70's story goes way back. The USE (Giat's home country) was trying to reduce civilian petrol consumption due to large shortages of allied sourced fossil fuels. So car companies were required to research EVs, often helped via massive government funding, but most companies due to the high cost of EV batteries decided to build big costly cars or small bare-bones vehicles. But unlike today sales of EVs were fine, they were 30% of vehicles on the road, because petrol engines were still in their infancy and the rapidly expanding country didn't compensate by adding more petrol stations, but electricity was in every city so there was a bigger appeal for Electric cars. But the higher costs and the slow charging speeds still made them a minority on the road. Here's where Giat comes in.
The founder Rober Giat, was a researcher at the MTC (Markington Technology Center) and he was part of a development program for higher energy dense batteries for railway usage. They managed to develop a new kind of Lithium Ion battery, a semi-solid LMFP that had better energy density compared to LFP or Sodium Ion batteries that were being researched at the time but they were cheaper than the usual NMC batteries used in EVs of the time. Rober thought that, if a car was light enough, it could allow 400/500km of real range while also being at least 7k cheaper than similarly sized EVs.
He went on to create his own company, working with its previous research team to develop this car. They ended up creating a 3.2 meters long car, with a mighty 60kw/h battery allowing 500km of measured range. Unheard of for and EV of its size. Adding to this the low price of 12k G for a car that (while not that rich in features) was fully loaded with what was needed everyday.
After launch it became a massive success, gaining the reputation of "the erthian people's car" and turning into an icona for the new electric era. EV sales boomed as Giat kept developing new models and competition developed their own "super batteries" using the MTC's research. The 70 was then routinely updated gaining in range and features, slightly rising in price and class but retaining its affordability. It still remains the most sold car in the USE in modern day.
