5.56x45 NATO (does nothing)
In the fifties NATO decided that 7.62x51 NATO should replace the .30-06 round. When the 7.62 NATO was chosen it was criticized because it had to much power and recoil for a modern, lightweight service rifle. Therefore after this Armalite and a bunch of other manufacturers started their Small Caliber/High Velocity (SCHV) rifle expirements using the .222 Remington cartridge. Due to the .222 Remington not meeting CONARC velocity and penetration requirments, Armalite asked Reminton to make a similar cartridge with a longer body and shorter neck. This cartridge was the .223 Remington cartridge. When the U.S. military adopted the M16, a slightly derived form of the .223 Remington cartridge known as the 5.56x45 NATO was adopted.
My replica doesn't do anything.
Enjoy!
