Heinkel He 162 'Volksjager'
One and a half year later... shame on me for not making it. I had planned long ago to start building it but I frequently postponed them. Even so, here it is :)
The Heinkel He 162, also known by its three other names - Volksjäger (pronounced Folksjaeger), Spatz (Shpatz) and Salamander - was one of the few jet aircraft that served during WWII and, arguably, one of the most interesting first-generation jet aircraft alongside the enigmatic Horten Ho 229.
First flying on 6th December 1944, the He 162 was a 'sporty'-looking aircraft, many of its features being considered modern even to this day. Professor Heinkel decided to place one single BMW 003 engine on top of the aircraft (very close to the fuselage mid section) and went for a slightly different tail design.
Being a very, very cheap aircraft, it was armed with either 20 mm MG-151 cannons or 30 mm MK103 autocannons. Both were still potent weapons at that time.
It was, performance-wise, a decent aircraft. It could reach 522 mph in level flight and 562 mph with short power burst. It was notorious for having extremely sensitive controls. Many of the pilots that flew the He 162 didn't have enough experience and often ended over-rolling as the roll rate on it was simply too high.
Just as with most other jet aircraft produced by Germany at that time, it came too late to change the outcome of the war. It served, however, as yet another stone on the path to second generation jets.
Just as the real thing, the roll on it is very sensitive. Controls are standard with the exception that AG 1 activates the afterburner. Doing that will give you a slight speed boost.
When taking off it is recommended to set the flaps (VTOL controller) to about 25-50% (essentially drag the controller down). Once you're up, you can use them to stabilize the aircraft in case you need.

Also why don't you look it up? As it happens, it was made of wood.
@sneekibreekiasu57 overreaction
@PhantomBladeCorp no it was not LOOK IT UP!!! IT WAS METAL THE V1 ROCKET WAS!!!!!!!
@Maxwell1 no the v1 rocket was
@Maxwell1 It was.
Wasn't this made out of wood?
Haha@OldManWinter1945
@TheGoodTrooper Yes I am now let's sing: SASAGEYO SASAGEYO
SHINZOU WO SASAGEYO
Haha lol. U filipino? @OldManWinter1945
@TheGoodTrooper SASAGEYO SASAGEYO is better SHINZO WO SASAGEYO
Jager? Jager? Jager? *attack on titan theme plays in the background x1000
Ok@PhantomBladeCorp
@ThePrototype As I said, there isn't too much work to do. The Argus engine is 30 minutes work.
I will do it just not now.
But what about the one porwered by argue pulse jets and yes there was a plane to do that if normal jet fuel ran out @PhantomBladeCorp
@XxcreedexX Nope. I started building this about 2 days ago.
Holy crap, this thing is legit popular!
Thanks to all that upvotes/downloads/spotlights :)
@ThePrototype Hmmmm...
Nope exdeee
I might.
Surely not the next thing I will build. I don't like stuff that repeats. Literally, I only have to modify the engine at the top and sweep the wings forwards.
Also good job
Are you going to make the forward swept wing he-162 or even the one powered by the same pulse jets that's powered the v-1
Spatz hum...
@AudioDud3 Gar nichts
@Treadmill103 I'm glad you like it :)
@PhantomBladeCorp no problem
@EternalDarkness @AverroesIndustries Thanks a lot for the spotlights! :D
