I saw this on a website:
Il-96MD
designed twin-engine version of the Il-96-300. Each of the two engines was supposed to develop a thrust of 27200/31750 kgf. The first copies were supposed to fly with Lotarev D-18 turbofan engines. The possibility of installing PW2337 and RR Trent engines on the aircraft was studied.(Originally in Russian)

My friend, that’s really you remember that this plane existed, however iL-96MD was supposed to be equipped with «НК-Х» or PW4000 series (same as on B772). However there also were project named iL-90-200 with «Н-18Т» and «НК-93» engines. However neither of them came to life. Except for iL-96MO and iL-96T, but they both were four engine aircraft.
