CycloMidge Cyclocopter

The Thorne CycloMidge

The CycloMidge is a single-seat ultralight Cyclocopter with both recreational and operational uses in mind. Consisting of only 261 parts, this exotic babe of a machine will leave just about any mobile device thanking you.

The Cyclomidge is derrived from an ultralight single-seat helicopter I made 2 months ago, there's a link to that and an autogyro version at the bottom.

For the record, this 2-cage+tail arrangement doesn't work too well on SimplePlanes so I've hid a small Rotor system underneath the seat so it flies nicely, If you're curious about how this would perform using real wings paired with the swashplate mechanism, try this version of my Charlie-1 Cyclogyro

Pilot Pal

I've included pilot pal in all my Midge variants, so please enjoy this copy-paste on why;

The best part about flying is sharing the experience with others; SimplePlanes is a lonely game, and Pilot Pal is the perfect solution. Pilot Pal is designed to make your flying experience ten times better, he reacts you your yaw/Roll/pitch rates, vibrations, takeoffs, landings, hard landings, and crashes!

The original plan was to design 2 cockpits; one with a realistic instrument panel, and one with a simplified instrument panel using minimal parts [turned out to be 7], and this became Pilot Pal! I began work on a detailed instrument panel after completing the minimal Pilot Pal, it took an incredible amount of parts and it just wasn't as cool. I decided that Pilot Pal would be far more likeable and a lot more fun to use.

Also

I know I'm starting to churn out these Midge variants pretty quick but this one took some time and effort, on the surface there's an acceptable amount of effort put in, however there was quite a trial of blind fine-tuning with funkytrees and overload to get this to fly nicely without feeling too unnatural. (just for the record)

    Pilot pal is fun but for me the best bit of this build is such a ridiculous detail that most people will probably overlook it... yes the moving pedals and joystick are awesome, as too is the work you put into those crazy blades but the best bit by far is...... the black tie holding the exhaust pipe to the boom(?) support.
