Everybody loves this plane!!!!!!! It is the result of the JSF program, to act as a cheap, multi-role fighter. Its the ONLY 5th gen strike fighter that is operational. This plane includes the weapon bays! ACT 1 + VTOL is the first bay door. ACT 2 fires the AIM-120 AMRAAM missile in that bay. ACT 3+VTOL is nxt bay door, then ACT 3 for the AIM-120 in that bay. This is the A variant for the USAF and other air forces. It is the lightest and most agile of the 3 variants. Hope you guys like this!

I just want an F-22@Kevpilot
In the US it's very conterverial because the program was so expensive. In addition, a prototype lost to a F-16 In a dogfight. @drdoom222
Why r we arguing it's just a plane
You know what I meant @kevpilot @Wahoo12
Oh yeah there's a not in there
@banks1223 @Wahoo12
^^^^
I think u have a typo @Banks1223
And guys it's not a fighter it's a support aircraft, it's supposed to be really good a dogfights @Wahoo12 @Kevpilot @LordofLego
It's BVR but it is Beyond Visual Range combat. Basically it's "I will live because my missiles can shoot further than yours" fighting. @Kevpilot
What's BRV ??? @Wahoo12
Besides, I don't like the idea of BVR over Manueverability
I'm just trying to make Kevin mad :) @LordofLego
@Wahoo12 @Kevpilot That stupid F-16 test again. I didn't want to argue about this any more, but that stupid dogfight... Okay. The F-35 used was not a production model. This is important. Most people ignore this fact to easily ridicule the F-35 or have heard the story from sources who are ignoring that important fact. The F-35 used was a flying prototype without the correct computer systems installed. Had it been the most recent one built it would have likely won.
Oops :P @LordofLego
That sounds a lot like the pentagon's excuses... Just give up. @Kevpilot
Ok I researched the F-16 F-35 dogfight. The F-35 was not stealth, did not have its advanced avionics, and the missile lock on system was only equipped for AIM-9s. To be unbiased, the F-16 did have fuel tanks on. But the biggest factor was stealth. @Wahoo12
@Wahoo12 It was a joke.
@LordofLego @Kevpilot 1. Well, not everyone on SP... 2. The J20 has canards so in a HIGH SPEED battle the F-35 would probably win. Canards ruin high speed maneuverability but enhance low speed maneuverability. 3. The F-35 ain't so cheap- yes it was supposed to be, but that didn't work out so well :) 4. I would not underestimate Russian planes. They are pretty advanced and the F-35 lost to an F-16, which was originally designed by the Light Fighter Mafia (yes, that's the actual name of the company) in the 70's.
Yeah, but if gas trapezoid wings, and an all-moving tail. It's also got FAR superior avionics to any Russian or Chinese jet. So I'd bet that it would will in a dogfight to something like a J-20 or Su-30m @Allstar
@Allstar Aha-- a money manage Nazi... Or perhaps an armchair Air Force analyst. Do you comment on FoxtrotAlpha articles?
Well, the fundamental body design isn't particulary condusive to high maneuverability. It's heavy and has small wings. Really only thing it has going for it is stealth tech as far as I know and that makes it super expensive. @LordofLego
Usually FoxtrotAlpha posts are positive about it, but the comments are full of flame wars between the two groups. Personally, I thinks it's badass.
True. Plane enthusiasts and pilots love, money manage nazis hate it @LordofLego
Everyone on SP loves it. Every armchair Air Force analyst on FoxtrotAlpha hates it. The F-35: America's Future.
