Proposed in 1943 by the Fletcher Aircraft Firm, the XF-67 project was meant to fill a light attack aircraft role. As such, it was light, durable, and well-armed. It had four 20mm cannons, each firing high-explosive-incendiary rounds. It was also equipped with two hard-points, one under each wing, for external weapon payloads. This particular model, depicted in concept RAF colors, has two rocket-pods. The plane was given the name Pioneer in 1945 when the USAAF decided to allocate funds to the project. The program was dropped in 1948 after little progress had been made, mostly because of delays in the development of the engine.
