Small troop carrier built during the Second World War under the Royal Navy, designated 'HMS Schofield'. After the war, improved electronics and engine systems replaced the old ones for transatlantic crossings. In the 1950's she was refitted with Shorty. Inc advanced electronics. And in 1963 was converted into a research ship. In 1968 she was awarded with finding the sunken USS Minneapolis.
