Airbus A319-100 (cockpit Improved)
The Airbus A319 is a member of the Airbus A320 family and is a reduced version of the A320. The A319 project was initiated in June 1993, first flew in August 1995, obtained the model certificate in April 1996, and was delivered in May. Due to the same fuel volume as the A320-200 and the low passenger capacity, i.e. 124 passengers in a 2-equation layout, it can reach a range of 3900 nautical miles (7200 km), the longest range of the Airbus A320 series.
1. According to Airbus Industry, between 1995 and 2011, the world's civil aviation transport industry will need about 1200 125-seat short- and medium-range passenger aircraft, and the Airbus A319 is a short- and medium-range passenger aircraft developed to compete for this market. The A319 is a shortened version derived directly from the Airbus A320. The A319 project was initiated in June 1993.
2. First flight in Hamburg on August 29, 1995.
3. It entered service on 30 April 1996 with Swissair.
4. The first ACJ variant was officially unveiled at the Paris Air Show in 1997, first flew on November 12, 1998, and was first delivered on November 8, 1999. The A319LR was remodeled and delivered to PrivatAir in May 2004.
Basic features
Airbus A319
The A319 is a shortened version of the Airbus A320. Compared to the A320, the fuselage cross-sectional dimensions are the same as those of the A320, with a fuselage shortness of 3.73 meters, one reduction in the emergency exit on the wings, and the cancellation of the bulk cargo compartment in the rear of the fuselage. Due to the same fuel volume as the A320-200 and the smaller passenger capacity, that is, 124 passengers in the Category 2 layout, it can reach a range of 3900 nautical miles (7200 km), making it the longest range of aircraft in the A320 series. High-density single-seat layout for 148 passengers.
The A319 features a swept-back lower wing with wingsflips; two down-wing CFM56-5 or IAF V2500 turbofan engines; and a swept vertical tail and a down-mounted horizontal tail. The A319 cargo compartment has a total volume of 27.64 cubic meters, the front cargo volume is 8.52 cubic meters, and the rear cargo compartment volume is 19.12 cubic meters, which can carry 64 tons or 68 tons of cargo.
The total turnaround time for fully containerized cargo can be completed in up to 20 minutes. The A319 uses the same engine as the A320 and has a takeoff thrust of 97.8 kN to 104.5 kN. Many parts of the aircraft are made of composite materials, such as front landing gear doors, carbon brake discs, fairings, cabin floors, etc. This makes the weight of each component 20% to 25% lighter than the use of metal materials, and the weight of the entire aircraft is reduced by 800 kg.
The A319 has good versatility, with the same maintenance procedures and similar driving operation as the A320 and A321. Therefore, in the training of pilots and crew, only one type of training is needed, basically the full range of A320 models can be flown, and only need to receive very little ground difference training, which can greatly reduce the training cost of the A319, including the cost of simulators.
Business jets
The A319CJ (Corporation Jet), abbreviated as ACJ, is a business jet based on the A319. Fuel tanks are attached between the cargo compartments, and the endurance reaches 6,500 nautical miles (12,000 km), reaching the threshold of 10,000 km transcontinental flight. The A319CJ uses the same model engine as the A320 series. This model can be converted to a standard A319 aircraft with the attached fuel tank removed, so it can be used for maximum value. With its spacious interior and flexible interior facilities, these business jets offer operational flexibility not found in any competing business jet. The A319CJ can fly at a maximum altitude of 12,000 meters, cruising at Mach 0.78 at a cost of only $36 million. China Golden Deer Business Aviation Co., Ltd. has ordered three Airbus A319CJ business jets.
The A319LR is a 48-seat business class that offers premium business services on international routes. Compared to the A319CJ, the A319LR's fuselage fuel tanks have been reduced from 6 to 4. The typical cruising distance is 4500 nautical miles (8300 km). Lufthansa uses an A319LR fleet belonging to Swiss private aviation to provide special business services between Germany and the United States.
Accident
On May 14, 2018, Sichuan Airlines Co., Ltd. flight 3U8633 was in the Chengdu regional cruise stage, the front windshield of the right seat of the cockpit broke and fell off, the crew implemented an emergency descent, and the aircraft was safely diverted to Chengdu Shuangliu Airport at 07:46 on May 14, 2018, and all passengers landed safely, disembarked in an orderly manner and were properly arranged. During the diversion, the right passenger in command suffered a facial scratch on his waist and a crew member suffered minor injuries during the descent.

In order to commend the advanced and promote the healthy atmosphere, the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the Sichuan Provincial People's Government decided to award the crew of Sichuan Airlines Flight 3U8633 the title of "Heroic Crew of Civil Aviation of China".Liu Chuanjian was awarded the title of "Heroic Captain of Civil Aviation of China". On June 2, 2020, Sichuan Airlines cockpit windshield burst investigation report was released. The investigation report shows that the most likely cause of this incident is that the right windshield of B-6419 may be damaged (meteorological seal or sealed silica gel), there is a cavity inside the windshield, and the external water vapor penetrates and remains at the bottom edge of the windshield.
