Yekavlov Ye-30A [BWC2 - Fortis]
Successor system's broken because I reuploaded this twice (as unlisted).
For Aarav's Block War Challenge 2.
Yes, it is inspired by the IL-76.
Credits
This is an original creation from me, but I'd like to credit the following:
- GalacticaAsia's plane doors (that I used as a scale)
- Mastereldo's Vietnam Countryball for the star on the tail (yes)

Disclaimer about using Russian for all the labels
Note that I don't know any Russian, I used Google Translate for everything.
I used it because, being on the communist side of the war challenge, I wanted to use a language that made the communist factor of the plane more authentic. As Russia used to be the head state of the Soviet Union, its language is rather associated with communism.
Hopefully I don't offend any Russian speakers here.
By the way, the name of the airline using this plane translates to Fortis- People's Airline, if you're wondering.
Backstory
The year was 1958. With the Alliance between Berralind and Staneland churning out aircraft at an unprecedented rate, Fortis leadership knew the country needed to ramp up aircraft production.
But because of the shape of Fortis, transporting completed ground vehicles, like trucks and tanks, from the major factories in Bandit Region to the main airport in Yeager Region, required a long and arduous journey by truck through the canyons of Fortis. Additionally, Fortis required an increasing amount of imports from the Soviet Union to build its planes, but because it was an island, the only way to bring these supplies was by ships, which were vulnerable to Alliance attack aircraft.
So the HUY-112 was produced to serve this purpose. However, it was still too small, and could not carry the amount of payload required to serve the rising demand.
In response to this, Yekavlov Aircraft Company (or just Yekavlov), already known for designing several successful airliners, began work on a new, much bigger cargo plane, which would become the Ye-30.
Size comparison of the Ye-30 over its predecessor.
Features
The Ye-30 is powered by 4 MK-75 turbojet engines, each capable of producing 125,000 Newtons of thrust.
Its cargo bay is twice the size of the HUY-112. The Ye-30 (in theory) is able to carry up to:
- 400 Troops
- 4 Project MUVs
- 5 Koyot APC 001s
- 8 Taroll 5637s
- or 1 SO-TLMN-00.
Besides its immense size, the Ye-30 can take off and land from any kind of airstrip. It doesn't even really need a runway (see the 3rd thumbnail)!
This particular flight is carrying 2 Project MUVs.
Uses
For the story, it transports supplies between the 2 airports in Fortis. It does not cost SP money, as the Ye-30, being operated by the state owned airline Fortis-People's Airline, is frequently used to transport paying passengers on regular flights (
+50SP per flight- 5 flights/day, all week
)For this challenge, the Ye-30A is used to airdrop ground vehicles (see above for what vehicles can be carried inside the plane) for an invasion of Staneland or Berralind.
It's not very useful for now, but when we need it, it will be there for us. Besides, it earns some money for Fortis (see the red text
right above).
For those not joining the war challenge, this is still one really good block plane! :)
