According to the designers, Beriev A-150 was to become a multipurpose flying boat, which would be capable of performing search and rescue operations, refueling in flight, and also participate in anti-ship operations.
It was assumed that the aircraft will carry out take-offs and landings from the water surface and ground-based airfields. In addition, he could operate in arctic conditions, taking off from the ice runways. Beria A-150 should have a short takeoff and landing. For this purpose the aircraft would be equipped with twelve lifting engines. In addition to additional lifting engines, the power plant was to include four turbojet engines. The wing was to be equipped with flaps and ailerons, as well as retractable auxiliary floats, which would be placed on the wing consoles of the endings. In the stern and nasal towers, according to the draft, defensive weapons were to be placed.
