PF-23 Windshear

13.7k DeltaLinkAviation  6 months ago

Another build of mine that was put on hold for a few months now, originally built for WCU S6. I didn't quite like it at the time, but I decided to finish it today - and honestly, I'm satisfied with the results.

This build features a WW2 style radar set-up, and I tried simulating how it would work by using a missile (it doesn't fire from the plane) with the desired specs. Similar to my Thunderprop, which funnily enough, was made and uploaded after I had archived this build.

Anyways, Enjoy. The night is your domain

Fictional Lore:

1942 rolled in, and the Arkhalian Empire's aging fleet of PF-21s needed a capable replacement, a dedicated night fighter that could perform said operations with greater efficiency and success. After 2 years of design and development, the PF-23 'Windshear' was born, dubbed "Son of The Moth".

It was used in the Battle of the Americas, playing a crucial role in its eventual end in 1945. The PF-23 served in both the Arkhalian and Targothican Air Arm, up until the early 1950s, when jets began to rule the skies.

The PF-23 was one of the most successful fighters of the Arkhalian Air Arm, however, it was not without its flaws. Purpose built for its role and nothing more, its frame was built for speed, with weight reduction as a priority, reflected in its cramped, yet sleek design.
It had irregular stall speed and could not carry heavy external payload, as this would severely affect the positioning of its center of mass, causing the aircraft to tip backwards, especially while stationary, or sometimes cause the nose to drop extensively in flight, in which the pilot would have to maintain constant pitch to keep the plane airborne.

Fixes:

Ver. 1.0.5
- Fixed brake torque on all wheels. The plane should be a lot more stable when slowing down on the runway now. Reduced torque by 90% on the rear and 80% on the front.
- Fixed trim input on the rotators for the horizontal stabilizers.
