a little background: the Lockheed Martin p-38 lightning was first conceived by the master himself kelly Johnson. the radical twin booms gave this plane the nickname "fork tailed devil". this plane was the first american fighter to break 400mph with a top speed of 443mph. the first renditions were not the best and suffered some crashes but its first successful flight brought on the idea to fly across America, and it did it faster than Howard Hughes in around 14 jours. this plane was at the forefront of the american war effort and is one of the most iconic planes of ww2 along with thep51,and b17. the plane i made is as close to the real plane as possible.
