Airbus A321Neo[PW]
On March 9, 2016, Airbus's A321neo aircraft equipped with Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engine completed its first flight. Just a month ago, the Airbus A321neo with LEAP-1A engine also made its first flight. At this point, the longest A321Neo in the A320Neo family was officially completed.PW1100G series engine carried in A320Neo family makes the transmission efficiency as high as 99.7% and the bypass ratio expanded to 11:1 through five cleverly designed planetary gears. Compared with CFM56-5A and IAE V2500-A5 on the original A320ceo, the fuel consumption is reduced by about 20%, so this engine has become the first choice for airlines operating A320Neo. However, due to the poor reliability of PW1100G earlier and the engine fire accident of an A320Neo equipped with the same engine in AirChina at Singapore Changi Airport last year, about half of the same A320Neo in the world was grounded.
