F-104C Starfighter
Lockheed F-104C Starfighter Version 2.5
For SimplePlanes
The F-104 Starfighter was the first aircraft capable of sustained mach 2 flight and the first to simultaneously hold the record for speed, altitude, and climb rate. The Starfighter’s minimal cross section and thin, stubby wings made it optimized for high-speed interception. However, the lack of space for internal fuel necessitated external tip tanks for longer missions. The design also had unfavorable flight characteristics at more than 10 degrees AOA, which could lead to unrecoverable spins. As a result, the Starfighter had high accident rates in international service.
The F-104 was operated by several nations other than the United States, including Germany, Japan, Taiwan, Canada, and Italy, which was the last country to retire the F-104 in 2004. It also received many, sometimes unfortunate, nicknames, including “Zip-Zilch” (Zero-Zero), “Zipper,” “Erdnagel” (Ground Nail), “Witwenmacher” (Widowmaker), “Eiko” (Glory), and “Lawn Dart.” Read more...

@ReinMcDeer You're welcome
@TheAviator77 Thanks for the correction
No, the F-104 was the first aircraft capable of sustained speeds at Mach 2.
Awesome, fast and stabile plane, reached 20M with no issue with adj engines.
Ok then
@Carsonkiddy2 RPG=Rounds Per Gun
On the "Armament" bit, on M61A1 it says 725 RPG, did you mean to put RPM?
@ReinMcDeer ikr!?
Yeah, true 😂
.
But being able to fly into suborbital space? Showing it off at all the airports that can hold it? Hell yeah 😂
.
Probably be easier to have a joint ownership of it though
@TheSonOfThunder Yo that's not bad
Maintenance and fuel will easily make that way more expensive though
Forgot to upvote this beauty a while ago!! This is sick!
I saw one for sale on PlatinumFighters for $600,000. My god I wish I had $600,000 lmao
@donkski Something was wrong with the FT. It should be fixed now.
Thanks for letting me know
beautiful beautiful

@DerPanzer262 The Right Stuff?

I sure do love living
I sure do hope that this plane won't stop me from doing my favorite thing, living
Gotta love the flying pencil
@ReinMcDeer amazing work!
@Kangy I did the clicky
.
Do I ded nao :0:0:0:0
@ReinMcDeer I believe this is true, but given the ground clearance (or lack of) the USAF didn't use it that often if at all - the bomber mafia would certainly turn their nose up at this spiffy little hot rod fighter being used as...a fighter. :0
.
I believe other nations did use those launchers on their Starfighters more regularly however.
@Ded clicky
I love the supersonic minigun pencil!
YES! the flying lawn dart has been posted.
@Ded Supposedly added on to late F-104 C models :v
I mainly wanted an excuse to have a loadout with the tip tanks and missiles
@TheCommentaryGuy I once saw him kill 3 MiG's in a bar
@ShirakamiShimada lol
