Grumman F-14 Tomcat (Top Gun Replica)

120k ACEPILOT109  4.6 years ago

So me and asteroidbook345 had a little F-14 challenge, and we are posting them at the same time. So make sure you tell him mine is better! Here is the link to his F-14

Ah yes the F-14! Its the most iconic fighter jet of all time! Well, most likely... This plane was very good for its time and very good at its job! I love the F-14 and I never made one because of all its weird curvy bits and it was weird to build. mainly the inlets but now that I've done it I feel great it was the hardest plane to make so far. It was used as an interceptor, to escort Tu-95s when they did recon on the US Navy! here is a cool photo of that.

It was also used in Libya and got a few air kills, killing MiGs! it was also given to the Iranian Air Force, and was very successful. they say they are still in operation but the lack of parts means that is very unlikely that they can still fly. This is a pretty spot on replica of the very F-14 in the film Top Gun.

Top Gun, is also known as Air Combat Maneuvering, the Top Gun Program. It was made to teach navel aviators to learn to dogfight again because of their dependence on missiles. It was a great success! At the time of the film the main airspace where the F-14 and the A4, the A4 being a replacement to the MiGs. In the film, the MiGs are MiG-28s, or repainted F-5s. I also made one and will be released soon after this, and a link should be here. Top Gun was and is a great film! if you watch the behind the scenes you will see how much work, energy an time, went into it! Its my favorite move, because its not a classic Hollywood lets make the planes really unrealistic, and use CGI. because the film uses real airplanes everything has to be real and live! so its so cool because it takes real flying and puts a plot on it! well, my rant about the best movie ever is over. I've watched it 5 times, on VHS, and the CD, with the behind the scenes.

Well, there is also a MiG-28! so you can fly ageist the newest Russian fighter!

I used triangles as different angles, its complicated, id recommend tearing it apart and looking at it.

The Russians would fly right along the border, so they sent F-14s to be there if they try anything
