[PEA] X-15

1,138 Kaveman  6 months ago

The North American X-15 was a hypersonic rocket powered aircraft developed by North American and operated by the U.S. Air Force and NASA as part of the line of X-plane experimental aircraft. The X-15 set several records in the 60s, mainly a top speed and altitude record. The plane passed the Karman Line and officially went into space in 1963. The fastest flight, at a speed of 4,520 MPH (7,274 KM/H or Mach 6.70) would be speed record, one which still stands as the fastest manned aircraft flight, was set in 1967 by William J. Knight.

This one was very tough to build, mostly because of the weird wing placement. Be careful pulling up too quickly or rolling, and don't go too fast at low altitudes. I did add air brakes and a parachute(1) to help slow down. I also didn't add skids, so that you can take off from airfields. IK it isn't the most realistic, but oh well. Having so few parts is extremely limiting with what you can actually do.
