History: In early 1944, Focke-Wulf received a request from the Luftwaffe asking them to build a single-seat, quad-engined reconnaissance aircraft. Focke-Wulf vegan work on the prototype aircraft and its first flight took place on June 1, 1944. Then D-Day happened, and the Luftwaffe demanded that the new aircraft be delivered to squadrons by August 1. The first squadron to recieve the new reconnaissance aircraft was on June 25, 1944. The aircraft saw limited service as the squadron that flew it were a back-up squadron. The aircraft served until the end of the war with only one aircraft surviving.
