FW-330 Hummel A2
Alternate History:: Developed to replace the highly dangerous Me-163 Komet and Pantera 271 Bumerangue, the Hummel was developed, test flown, and mass produced in Germany as a high speed bomber interceptor, the initial design was scoffed at by higher ups in the Luftwaffe due to its unorthodox design, the A1 was outfitted with a single prop engine and modified Me-163 rocket which was quickly discontinued when the landing gear would melt upon ignition and would cause the c craft to ignite, the aircraft was then outfitted with a revolutionary dual rotary engine to allow for a higher speed without the need of a jet or rocket, after a surprising success of the prototype, the Focke-Wulf 330 was dubbed the Hummel or "Bumblebee" due to its strange shape, the aircraft was mass produced in order to counter the now heavier bombing runs from the allies in Germany's major cities, to which the Hummel proved to be a superior threat to the P-51 and Spitfires, after the collapse of the U.S.S.R's southern resistance forces,, 500 Hummel interceptors were sent to Brazil to counter the US air raids over Rio de Janerio with a decisive victory for the Axis in the South American front, the Brazilian forces made a frontal assault into Columbia and Venezuela to attain a strategic foothold against the American and Mexican forces.
Surprisingly enough, the Hummel proved to be an excellent long range fighter as well as an interceptor and night fighter. The Hummel was then mass produced under a lend lease operation in Brazil and Colombian controlled territories, further increasing the numbers of the cheap, efficient aircraft.
