Junkers W34 – Luftwaffe trainer version

If all is well, this should be a decent replica of a Junkers W34hau Luftwaffe trainer with Bramo engine. It’s actually one of a pair; I built two W34 versions simultaneously –so its “brother” will be released later.

The Junkers W34, first manufactured in 1926, continued a line of all-metal Junkers aircraft going back to the Junkers J.I. With its forgiving flying characteristics and rugged construction, the Junkers W34 was considered by many to be the best bush plane of the 1930s and early 1940s. The W34 was widely exported and up to the end of Second World War was the German Air Force’s standard instrument and navigation trainer.

Controls

Nothing too exciting; standard flight controls, and only a few specials;

AG1: door
AG2: windows
AG3: sliding roof
AG8: toggle lights

Being a 1920’s plane, the W34 had an enclosed cockpit but it could be opened to fly around “top-down”. Oh, and don’t look for flaps in the controls; the W34 doesn’t need or have any. It’s a, well, simple plane.

Armament

Nope, sorry. It’s a flight & nav trainer.

##Beta-stuff##

As I said, this plane was finished at the time of the Beta release. I played around with the fuselage-cutting a bit for the wing coloring and parts of the engine cowling, and used the gauges for the instrument panel... and that’s about it. The new SP-version has lots of potential though, so I might tackle something a bit more challenging next time ;)

Have fun with this old crate!
