Mirage Challenge (DRAFT)
"Mirage is a name given to several types of jet aircraft designed by the French company Dassault Aviation (formerly Avions Marcel Dassault), some of which were produced in different variants. Most were supersonic fighters with delta wings."
Wikipedia
Deadline: July 6th, 2019
Your challenge is to create any variant of any plane from the Mirage series of aircraft. This includes any aircraft produced by Dassault that includes the Mirage name, as well as some other aircraft. Do not be dissuaded from entering if you are not capable of building a delta wing; there are variants without them.
Eligibility
If you do not follow these rules, your build will be disqualified!
- Your build must be original.
- You may not base your aircraft off of someone else's preexisting build. If your entry is a successor to any published/public aircraft whatsoever, or any unlisted aircraft that was used without permission, your entry will be disqualified. In the case of the latter, I request that the person who made the predecessor should comment on your submission to provide proof of permission, or that they give you permission in the description of their predecessor.
- You may use other's subassemblies with permission. The same rules above apply here: the author must either comment on your submission or give free permission in their description. You must also provide a link to any subassemblies that you used but did not create. You may use as many as you want, but no single subassembly can exceed 40 parts, and your build's score is subject to decrease if I feel that overuse of subassemblies detracted from it. The only exception to the part limit for subassemblies is instrumentation on the front dash of a cockpit, if you decide to build one.
- Your build must be no less than 100 parts and no greater than 1500.
- Self-explanatory: your build must be a Mirage. A list of eligible aircraft is below.
- Your build must fly. I should be able to take off and cruise in it. I also should not need a mod for your build to fly.
- XML is totally ok :)
- Mods are not allowed. If you want to make a variant of your build that has mods, then please make it unlisted and add the link to the original upload. The original upload should not have mods on it.
- All activation groups and other control inputs must be listed in the description.
Please note that if a build misses these requirements only narrowly, or if I just like it too much to disqualify it, then I can break my own rules. Sorry!
Scoring
60 Standard Points
- Visual Accuracy...the proportions of the exterior design must be the same as the real plane. It is also recommended to make your aircraft on a 1:1 scale.
15 Points
- Flight Model...I am not asking for much on this one. It does not matter if your plane performs in an arcade or a real fashion, but choose one, and make sure that it fits that description well.
15 Points
- Build Techniques...custom landing gear, paneling, custom control surfaces, engine effects, and similar techniques will earn you a higher score here.
15 Points
- Livery...give your Mirage a beautiful and historically/presently accurate paint job. This goes for anything from a squadron emblem to a design that goes over the whole aircraft, like NATO Tiger Meet paints.
10 Points
- Upload Description...make it pop! Use markdown to make it look nice.
5 Points
40 Possible Bonus Points
- Ingenuity...Try something on your build that is either uncommon, or has never been done before.
15 Points
- Outstanding presentation...if your description is extraordinarily well done, as well as your thumbnail images and teasers leading up to the build.
10 Points
- Damage Model...if your aircraft has been intentionally built to respond to damage realistically.

Parting note
Thank you for reading this far! I hope you decide to enter.
For the sake of fairness, I cannot give you criticism on your build until the judging date, after the deadline. However, I recommend heading to the SPBC Discord if you need help with your build.
Have fun. Below is a list of Mirage aircraft.
