Bristol 167 Brabazon

16.7k MrGreen  3.6 years ago

The bristol brabazon was a turboprop aircraft developed by Bristol Airplanes. It flew from 1949 to 1953, when the prototype model was scrapped and the programme was canceled. It never entered service, mainly because it was outdated. Even though its wingspan was bigger than that of a 747, it could only hold 120 passengers. it was designed as an alternative to transatlantic cruiseships. It certainly was luxurious, but the type of passengers had changed. After WWII, air travel was available for lower class people, flying now wasn't only for the elite. An enormous plane for the richest didn't fit that idea.
Airports which it can take-off and land on:
Avalanche
Wright
Wright North
Yeager

Instructions:
Take-off:
Throttle 100%
Pitch forward until 50kn
85kn Pull back, keep nose 10* (first line above artificial horizon)
Be careful not to hit the tail!
Wait until the plane goes up by itself
Cruise:
Keep your airspeed between 95 and 200 knots
To turn, roll in the desired direction, pitch up very slightly.
Landing:
Keep your speed between 90 and 140 knots
+-50 feet above the ground pull up hard, but keep descending

This is a WIP project. feel free to make a 3d cockpit, but please make sure to make it a succesor of this post.
Thanks for the Bronze!!

@MrGreen i think there was a proposition to make a mk2 with turboprops but the original had the tried and tested Centaurus as used by the Hawker Tempest.

@Tang0five Yeah the real one had turboprops too. I just watched a mustard video about it and yeah the real one is extremely underpowered so I decided to make mine the same lol. Anyway, thx for the updoot!
