As the most technologically advanced aircraft, the Lockheed Martin F-35A Lighting II was built to replace the A-10 and the F-16 (which is up on my site). The F-35, which is affectionately called "Fat Amy", can not only be used for air to ground strikes but can also be used in air superiority. Fat Amy is built in three different varieties: the F-35A for the U.S. Air Force (CTOL) Conventional Takeoff and Landing, the F-35B for the U.S. Marines (STOVL/VTOL) Short Takeoff and Vertical Landing/ Vertical Takeoff and Landing, and the F-35C for the U.S. Navy (STOL) Short Takeoff and Landing. This F-35A is in what is called multirole "Beast Mode" (extra pylons on the wings). The payload is specialized F-35 Drop Tanks ×2, Sidewinder ×4, and AMRAAM ×2.
