The Gloster Meteor entered service in 1944 with 616 squadron, intercepting V1s. It would soon be a (night) fighter, ground attack aircraft, recon plane and a trainer. It was used as a workhourse for the RAF n the early cold war before finally being retired in the 1980s and used as target practice.
