P.020d(U)-128m "Žaneta"
Ostpreußen Heer P.020d(U)-128m Series 2
"Ooooo iss green now" -me again, nobody says anything noteworthy about this stuff anymore
A large upgrade package meant for the Žaneta 4 TD/MBT that greatly improves passive chemical projectile resistance as well as improves upon crew visibility.
•History/Design
The advent of this upgrade pack came from several tests of the armor protection against common infantry anti-tank weapons shortly after the adoption of the Žaneta 4 into the OstP Heer, and with rising tensions to the east it was decided by Rhein-Ost (with support from the Monarchs) to entirely overhaul the turret protection. The introduction of the Ž4(U) would roughly coincide with the ongoing Russo-Ukraine conflict that gave confidence in the Žaneta 4 design with the OstP Heer.
By the time the Ž4(U) entered service, the added armor was considered more than capable against older Soviet-era tanks like the T-62, T-64, and now considered uncommon T-72, while the idea of encountering more modern T-80s, T-90s, and T-14s was decided rare enough to not matter against lone Series 2 Žanetas according to reports of Russian tank types lost in Ukraine.
•Turret
The turret saw the most change with the refit; a complete overhaul of the turret face and side armor with significantly improved protection against chemical projectiles while also offering greater situational awareness to the crew.
Instead of using the typical steel/ceramic composite armor blocks used on many different vehicles in the past, it was decided to extend the turret face armor back to cover the turret side and to some extent the rear to provide a less modular but more effective passive composite protection to the turret crew as well as the ammo stowage.
Additionally, the roof saw some mild reinforcement with large panels being welded to the turret to provide extra structural strength if the ammo stowage were to cook off.
With the extensive armor additions, the previously externally mounted large NBC and Air Conditioning unit that was found on the rear of the turret was fully encased with small intake vents found across several points on the underside of the additional armor that allow for an overpressure environment inside the Žaneta and comfortable temperatures for the crew in combat.

Alongside the passive protection came a observation suite in the form of a new commander cupola that can provide a nearly 360° view and the mounting of several cameras around the turret wired up to the commanders control center to offer better situational awareness of any battlefield the vehicle finds itself in. If needed the driver can access these cameras to improve his awareness while driving.

Lastly the newest Rh-128A8A1 gun was added, designed specifically to integrate with the existing semi-autoloading system while providing improved performance over the Rh-128A7A2 gun. This coincides with the introduction of a new ammunition that is compatable with the two guns that offers superior armor-penetrating capabilities with APFSDS and HEATFS while also offering versatile infantry support roles with its APHE and HE ammunition.
Much like the previous version, the remotely controlled MG15/60 15mm HMG is mounted just above the bustle ammo stowage and is controlled by the commander. It offers anti-infantry capabilities in a pinch and can attack low-flying drones or aircraft if the opportunity presents itself.

Stepping outside the lore and all that, the roof blowout panel was somewhat redesigned so it could more accurately represent the intended design with its shear bolts holding it down. Alongside it on the back of the turret the small ammo intake door was redesigned so ammo could actually feed through it into the cassette bustle ammo stowage.
•Hull
The hull mostly saw minor visual changes, like the addition of skirt armor over the wheels and small reinforcement panels being bolted into strategic positions on the vehicle, but a more significant overhaul would be a complete redesign of the engine compartment and its access hatch that would improve accessability by crew in the field as well as more easily allow entire engine swaps than before. The top access hatch features two hydraulic arms that are controlled from the drivers position, but the arms and the hatch hinges can be detached to let a crane entirely lift off the access hatch if needed.

•Versatility
Due to intensive trials by crew with and against Žanetas, entrenched AT infantry, as well as old captured T-72s in virtual and live training scenarios, a more expansive armor scheme was decided to better protect against older Soviet armor such as T-62s, T-64s, and T-72s instead of the considerably newer yet far more uncommon T-80s and T-90s. This is cemented by use of the Parkuns APS to counter infantry fired rockets and ATGMs over tank-fired darts, as its expected through extensive recon that the Series 2 Žaneta would either be routed away from more competant Soviet tanks or be able to engage them on the Žaneta's terms.

Note from Staffel
Jesus christ overhauling this thing was a complete and utter nightmare almost every single step. From working on the turret and replacing the main gun down to the suspension, practically every single part I added would just randomly cause surrounding pieces to reconnect to random parts around the vehicle. Twice I had to disconnect and reconnect every single piece of this godforsaken Christie suspension when I beefed up the drivetrain and all that crap because stuff randomly reconnected. That and how when I added the new commander cupola a piece of the turret roof just decided to connect to the drivers hatch...
It was miserable, the SP connection system wanted me to hate every second of this for no reason
But hopefully my pain in trying to upgrade this thing makes it worth the two month wait yall had since the teaser, I've just been caught up doing stuff as well as trying to dabble with some new variants based on the Ž4(U) hull. Eitherway, please enjoy this unit of a Žaneta!
