History

Zar-40 is the successor to Zar-39 which entered in the late 60's and early 70's although remarkably for its time it quickly became outdated so in 1986 The Arstotzkan ministry of defence had a competition set out to find the best design (in this case a whole redesign) for the Zar-40. After a few months a suitable design was found in fact, 2 suitable designs were found so 1 design was handed of to the Oprosh Design company while the other one was handed to the Zaradovish Aerospace company, the company which spent over 40 years building Zar aircraft. After 12 years of development in 1998 the 2 aircraft were unveiled both standing side by side with the minister of the navy and airforce looking at both of them, it was now down to which one is better presented. After 12 hours the minister of the navy chose the design on the left and told the Zaradovish Aerospace company to make it into a carrier based aircraft, while the other one is going to the airforce to become a stealth multirole aircraft the J-93.
