IDF Fire Shamrock MK.XIV W/ Gun pods

29.6k LegnaK  8.6 years ago

Developed alongside the Hawker Tempest, the Shamrock Fighter had taken cues from both the Hawker Typhoon and Supermarine Spitfire in order to achieve a more refined aircraft and by May of 1944, the first dozen Shamrock Fighters had been deployed in aiding the freedom of France. The Shamrock Fighter was more than adept at achieving its multi-role purpose with its Impressive rate of climb, stellar maneuverability and low stall speed, later versions of the Shamrock were outfitted with gun pods to assist in the invasion of Normandy where the "Fire Shamrock" had a recorded 43 Armed ground unit kills, after the invasion on the 7th of June the Fire Shamrock had obtained 26 confirmed kills against Axis aircraft.

However, despite the records, the Shamrock fighters had a tendency to be unusable after the first few sorties due to its rather difficult landing speeds and angles and the landing gear refusing to co-operate, leading to the deaths of 4 pilots and injuries of at least 35 other personnel.

This aircraft is designed for the Alternate WWII: Winter Wonderland

**Designers note: I did not realize I used the old roundels for the Irish Air Force until after I had finished, please don't hate me
