Originally planned by Archer Aeronautics Bureau as a 6th generation fighter, the Merlin was built into a 5th generation interceptor craft by Mobian Aerospace instead due to Archer's financial problems. It's design was inspired by the fictional Ace Combat craft ADFX-02/01 Morgan only with backward swept wings and 2 seats. It's designed to achieve supersonic speed in less time than most fighters, currently only Orion AB had 12 Merlins on their stock but more have been ordered. The ADVIX-03A Lightningbolt is The first model and prototype of the Merlin. It features a non-bubble canopy, a single large hardpoint on the belly for carrying a fuel tank, and a probe on the radome.
