In early 1945 the RAAF needed a fighter to compete with the Threat of Japanese twin-engine fighters such as the Ki-102. The plane was fitted with a front mounted 57mm gun for land support. it was made to replace the mosquito fighter but wasnt mass-produced due to the end of the war. many post-war variants where made.
