K-10 MK.2
"The lightning in the cloud, ready to strike at any moment"
These are the words used to describe the K-10 MK.2 by Krakabloa Navy pilots who flew these fine machines. Developed in the late 1950s, it was the fastest jet fighter at the time, and held such title for almost a decade. It is able to reach over 600 MPH on the deck, and boasts super-sonic capability at altitude. In addition, it also boasts amazing energy retention, making this plane an amazing energy fighter. The newly added radar allows this aircraft to have a navigation map, operated by the navigator, and allows the plane to use long range missiles. combine all those with extremely effective flaps and low stall control speed, this thing is deadly in a dog fight while in capable hands.
This plane was originally designed as a Navel all weather interceptor, therefore it is capable of carrier operations. It is equipped with first gen long range missiles, with an lock on range of 20 miles. The missile is not particularly maneuverable, there fore it is ill-advised to use them for any other purposes other than intercepting large, un-maneuverable targets. The plane is also equipped with a pair of KMG 20mm MK.1 auto cannons, armed with 400 HE rounds in total, and capable of a fire rate of around 1800 rounds per minute individually. This pair of cannons are extremely effective at both close range and long range air engagements, making most aircraft a one shot kill.
However, this aircraft is not without its severe drawbacks. It is practically incapable of high altitude dog fights, as the turn time at and above 30,000 feet exceeds 60 seconds. In addition, the vertical stabilizer is insufficient at those altitudes, therefore it is very easy to put the plane in an un-recoverable flat spin if violent maneuvers are performed at high altitude. The engines are quite unresponsive to throttle changes, leading to slow acceleration. Keep that in mind when attempting to reverse an enemy plane. In addition, the engine is highly inefficient, leading to excessive fuel consumption, and the need to carry a great deal of fuel for it to have any sort of reasonable combat radius. It is highly suggested that one eject the mounted fuel tank when engaged in a dog fight.
