The crash of Japan Airlines Flight 123 occurred on August 12, 1985, with Boeing 747-100SR and aircraft number JA8119. Carrying 509 passengers and 15 crew members, scheduled to fly from Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan to Osaka Itan Airport. Due to improper maintenance, the aircraft experienced explosive decompression and loss of hydraulic control due to the rupture of its rear pressure cover during flight. The plane crashed near Mount Takahara in the Yuchihiro Mountains of Gunma Prefecture, killing 520 people, including famous actor Yuko Kitahara and famous singer Koji Sakamoto from the Takatsuka Theater Company. But four women miraculously survived (one flight attendant who was not on duty, a mother and daughter, and a 12-year-old girl). This air crash is the deadliest in the world involving a single aircraft.
