J.W. Wescott II (AI Challenge Version)
I got the call when this thing sunk
I have seen an old post in SP about the Westcott but not a build. In 2001, near the end of my shift I personally received the very first call on an unknown boat with crew that capsized. En route to the shoreline where it was last scene, I notified my Harbor Master Recovery Team and the Coast Guard (Located on Belle Isle near the incident). The Westcott capsized while maneuvering in place to make a delivery (This has been done countless times). 2 pilots were rescued. The Captain and deckhand perished. Although I was a ground unit and did not assist in rescue on the water efforts. I did take part in the recovery since it was my initial call. The female captain's body was still inside the wheelhouse. Something I couldn't forget in a million lifetimes. The deckhand.s body was recovered on the shoreline of Canada. The Westcott has since been refurbished and is STILL in service to this day!
*The Westcott has its own zip code and is one of a kind. It delivers mail to ships transiting through the Detroit River bordering Canada. (It's home base is located in my precinct). The 45-foot J.W. Westcott II capsized shortly after 0700 on Oct. 23 as it was delivering a pilot to Sidsel Knutsen, a 533-foot Norwegian oil tanker. Westcott’s captain, Catherine Nasiatka, 48, and deckhand David Lewis, 50, were killed in the accident.
*This is my first boat and I didn't do that great with propulsion, kinda threw together what I see many use. Still couldn't get it right. But it stays afloat.. How's that for irony. My pictured version had far too many parts for the challenge. Thank you for reading this
