Aerodyne
Well, here it is, the first thing I wanted to design after getting SimplePlanes, I finally finished it. While there is some information floating around the internet about this plane, I had to take some liberties and assumptions but scale-wise it should be pretty close to what Alexander Lippisch had built going from photographs. Like his design, this also uses two driving sets of propellers, and while the physics of SimplePlanes currently does not allow proper thrust-vectoring with directional flaps, I could simulate this affect with placing the rear engine on rotators. Overall I am very happy with how it flies. Here are some flying basics:
AG1: engages the front engine.
VTOL: Rotates the rear engine for downward thrust. (middle of slider is neutral, top is fully down, will not rotate at all past middle)
It will take off like a normal plane without using VTOL at all, even just using the rear engine will also lift it off. However, engage the front engine, rotate the rear to the top of the VTOL slider, (full downward thrust) and throttle up. It will lift off almost immediately. As soon as it starts to lift, back down the VTOL to neutral position and off you go.
You can also land it many different ways, you can keep both engines turned on and land it like a normal plane, or descend at %50 throttle or so, at 2 or 3,000 ft you can kill the front engine and rotate VTOL to the 2nd notch from the top. When you are very close to touch-down, rotate VTOL all the way up, pitch back, and lower throttle- when done properly, you can land it at 50 mph or even lower.
I hope everyone enjoys it. It was murder to make, that's for sure. Because of this, I didn't have much left in me to make it look real pretty but then again, the prototype that Lippisch built wasn't pretty either.

Its coool!! This is like in big hero 6
it's nice
Great job on the design!👍
Excellent!
Great plane! Nice job
cool. and damn i know the feeling when your building an obscure plane. you should see my westland p. 12. there was so little info to go off of when making it.
Wow bro 10 out of 10
Cool! I visited this concept like 6 months ago but never got it working. Glad to see someone did!
Really cool!
@Fishbowl1121 ok i get it.
@Tully2001 ok i will.
@Tully2001 it is ?
This is a great invention why dont you make it in real life.
